BEACHES IN NIGERIA




Nigeria boarders the Atlantic Ocean in the south and is blessed with beautiful coastlines and an abundance of sea shores that attract Local and International tourists all year round.            
For those looking to sink their feet in the sand and have some beach fun, here are several beaches to choose from.


LAGOS STATE

BAR BEACH

Bar beach is the most popular beach in Lagos State and is busy all year round. It is located on Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island. It spans from the institute of Oceanography all the way to Eko hotel. The beach is known for its sand bars and does not have trees on it. Many activities are available such as horseback riding and other beach sports.

TAKWA BAY

The Tarkwa Bay is a man-made bay created during the formation of the Lagos harbor. This island is about 20 mins off the Lagos CMS boat jetty. It is a serene environment sparsely populated by friendly residents who are mostly fishermen. It is possible to surf in a corner of the bay and perform other water sports. It is a perfect get away from the bustle of the city. This beach is only assessable by boat.

ATICAN BEACH

The Atican Beach Resort is a beautiful relaxation spot and private beach located on Abraham Adesanya Road, Okun, Ajah, Lagos. It is one of the few well managed beaches in the State. The Resort is privately built with clean sand and beach environment. Lodging and restaurant facilities makes it one of the best places for family relaxation, parties and cooperate functions.

ELEGUSHI BEACH

Elegushi is a private Beach located at Ikate Elegushi Bus stop, a 2km drive from the Lekki toll off Lekki/Epe express way. Though it’s not the cleanest of beaches, it remains one of the most patronized beaches in Lagos. Bustling with activity, visitors are guaranteed 100% fun.

ELEKO BEACH

Eleko Beach is one of the serene beaches in Lagos. The beach is visited by people looking for some quietness. The atmosphere is relaxing and rejuvenating. There are beach huts for rent and there is also a market selling interesting art on the beach.

Other Beaches in Lagos are the Alpha Beach, Oniru Beach, Badagry Beach etc


CROSS RIVER STATE

CALABAR BEACH

Located in Calabar, one of the most popular tourist cities in Nigeria, the Calabar beach is a large, clean sandy beach and family friendly area with a serene environment. It is located at the mouth of the Calabar River and maintained by the state Government. The beach has plenty of parking for day trippers and vendors that offer food and drinks.

Other beaches in Cross River State are OBIONO BEACH, ADUN BEACH etc.

DELTA STATE

ASABA BEACH

Delta state has it fair share of beaches but the Asaba beach stands out with it beautiful scenery, coconut and palm trees, creeks, rock formations and clean beach sand.
Other Beaches within the State are ABRAKA BEACH, WARRI BEACH etc.
RIVERS STATE

FINIMMA BEACH

This beach is set in the small town of Finima in Bonny Island. This beautiful beach is at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It is usually super busy from the 26-31stof December of every year .People troop to the beach for carnivals.

Other Beaches within the State are the PORT HARCOURT TOURIST BEACH, IFOKO BEACH, YOWIK’S BEACH etc.

AKWA-IBOM STATE

IBENO BEACH

Ibeno beach is an amazing seacoast that stretches to the James Town on the Atlantic. It is the longest sand beach in West Africa. It is one of the most visited beaches in the South of Nigeria.

BAYELSA STATE

Bayelsa State has about 180km of uninterrupted coastline, teeming with sandy unspoilt beaches like the AGGE PALM BEACH in Ekeremor LGA, OKPOAMA BEACH in Brass LGA, FAMGBE BEACH in Yenagoa etc.


ONDO STATE

Ondo State has one of the longest territorial waters in Nigeria. The beach front is about 142km from Akure the State capital. These beaches are excellent for boating, swimming, sport fishing, picnic and many more. The most popular is the ARAROMI BEACH in Ijaje.

Other beaches around Nigeria are Oguta beach in Imo State, Ndibe beach in Ebonyi State etc.
