Nigeria is a country in West Africa bordering with Benin to
the west, Chad and Cameroon to the east and Niger to the north. Its coast in
the south lies on the gulf of guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It has 36 states
and the federal capital territory. Nigeria has numerous kingdoms and tribal states.
It has more than 250 ethnic groups with varying languages and customs creating
a rich ethnic diversity.
Nigerians are very industrious. Adding value to naturally
occurring raw materials in different arts and crafts such as grass weaving,
ivory carving, wood carving, clothe weaving, metal works etc. She is also known
for the successful men and women doing the country proud in academics, sports,
politics and business all around the world.
Nigerians are religiously diverse. Irrespective of their different
religious fates, they are very cultural people and till date cherish their
traditional languages, cuisines, music, fashion and literature. The love for
their Culture is further displayed in their festivals, weddings, funerals etc
.
Nigeria is also known for its natural landmarks and wildlife
reserves such as the Zuma Rock, a 725m tall monolith outside the capital Abuja
and the Mambilla Plateau in Taraba state. Tourists’ attractions include various
festivals and cultural celebrations like the Eyo festival, Argungu festival,
New Yam festivals etc
