TRAVEL AND SEE : BURGLARY PROOF

“Somebody wey dey travel
Aye
E no be say
E no get house
Take your time
E no dey carry house dey travel
Oga Landlord travel and see!”

The lyrics of this song by the Super 7 band of Ghana is so funny but makes a lot of sense. Every individual occupying a mortal body is a landlord to himself and needs to “Travel and see”.

Traveling is education for the mind. The writer of this song is merely talking about the opportunities to learn new things, see new things, appreciate life and have new experiences when a person is out of his comfort zone. These are just a few of things traveling does. Traveling also helps us to generate empathy and compassion for people especially those we’ve been biased about by expanding our awareness and removing all the stereotypes.
Travel exposes reality and truth in a way that the media cant.
Travel helps us appreciate what we have and could also motivate us to aspire for more.
Create special memories from events and interactions on every trip.
Develop lasting friendships.
Appreciate the beauty of nature.
Self-discovery by gaining new perspectives to life.

On today’s TRAVEL AND SEE, I want to share something new I discovered on one  of my trips. It is a burglary proof.

Burglary proofs are barriers attached to windows and doors in most Nigerian homes to withstand burglars. Apart from the two doors (like in most Nigerian homes) at the front and the back of the building, there are no other entrance or exist points. Imagine if there is an emergency within the house and the two doors can’t be reached. Remember, the option of jumping through the window is off but not in Onyi’s home.

Onyi’s Dad is an architect and must have considered these odds when he built his home hence he came up with this adjustment. Every room in the house has one accessible burglary proof on one window. Accessible in the sense that the burglary can be opened but only from within. Just like the rabbit after boring its home underground would leave one safe and secure exit point.

Smart idea. What do you think?
